The SPL statistics, broadband and per TOL frequency band, are sent by HT-S and further processed and presented to the user. As it was already discussed, if available, calibration data of the unit is applied to all following quantities.
This is the initial view after login. The shows the last 50th percentile (median) received of the broadband SPL . The meter classifies the value as “Low”, “Medium” or “High” based on pre-defined SPL intervals. On the left, a Detections tile, with a summary of the AI detections over the last 60 minutes is also presented.
Below, you can find the data that Spotter collected over the last 60 minutes - wave, wind and barometric pressure. There's also information related with system motion, inferred from the GPS positions (use the tip tools for more info).
Scrolling down in the dashboard you will find the

Each data point in the graphs corresponds to the sound statistics of a series of files over a certain aggregation period of time. This value will depend on the settings that were defined for each specific HT unit. For example, if the aggregation period is 12 minutes (default), each data point is relative to statistics of 12 minutes of audio. The timestamp corresponds to the time at which that aggregation period started.
This plot shows whether a class (e.g. vessel, dolphin) was detected within each time frame, based on the device's onboard AI. Detection occurs when a message contains enough positively-scored windows. Messages are sent every 30 minutes (HT-S) or every minute (HT-C).
When a time frame contains multiple messages, the cell color darkens with each additional positive detection message.
To view the percentage of positive windows per message, use the Export Data feature.
This plot presents a time-trace of the 50th percentile of broadband SPL.
A band chart with the SPL percentiles is displayed, in which the top line (i.e. high) and bottom line (i.e. low) correspond to the 25th and 75th percentiles, respectively. The central line connects the 50th percentile (median) values. The user can select the TOL frequency band being displayed via the dropdown selection menu on the top right.
A 2D contour plot is provided, that represents the 50th percentile of SPL of each TOL frequency band (y-axis) versus time. Note that each message is only relative to the aggregation period defined in HT settings, however, for visualization purposes, the respective data is extended in time until the time of the next message.
Based on the Spectrogram plot, with 50th percentile SPL data, a time average of each TOL band is computed. Then, also within each TOL band, this average is subtracted to each SPL data point, to obtain an anomaly estimation. If positive, the respective SPL data point is above the average for that TOL band. If negative, it is below average.
